C A S S T L presents Absence, Returned, a new exhibition by Antwerp-based artists Yves de Brabander and Cedric Jacquemyn, opening during Antwerp Pride.
Yves de Brabander and Cedric Jacquemyn have lived and worked alongside one another for many years. Their practices have developed in close proximity, shaped by a shared attention to material, transformation and the relationship between presence and disappearance.
Absence, Returned considers what remains after something has disappeared: a garment without a body, an image removed from its original context, a fragment carrying the presence of something incomplete. The exhibition follows these shifts between absence and presence, and the ways in which objects and images continue to change over time.
In E/Motion of a Garment, Jacquemyn considers clothing as a form that outlives its wearer. Coats, jackets, canvas works and textile constructions retain the suggestion of a body that has withdrawn, while continuing to respond to movement, gravity and time.
De Brabander’s new installation, Ancestral Inferno, departs from inventories of looted and disappeared cultural heritage. Taking the form of a fictional lost altarpiece divided into fragments, the work examines how images are transformed through loss and displacement. The fragmented panels become the remains of an artwork that never existed, questioning how histories are assembled and passed on.
Together, the works reveal two different ways of approaching what is absent: through the body’s imprint on material, and through the survival of images beyond their original form.
Absence, Returned forms part of TOGETHER, a city-wide initiative supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, initiated by Carla Arocha and developed in collaboration with Stéphane Schraenen, Vanessa Van Obberghen, Jesse Siegel, Tom Sanders, Philip Huyghe, Lieven Segers, Luc Tuymans, and Clara Lissens through which a network of Antwerp art spaces unite in the context of Antwerp Pride.
C A S S T L is a nonprofit artist initiative founded and run by Carla Arocha, Stéphane Schraenen, and Luc Tuymans since 2017. Our intention is to provide an experience that is not limited by the traditional and practical constraints of an institution or commercial space. We organize project-based events, including exhibitions, performances, readings, screenings, and publishing editions by local and international artists.

slower softer closer transforms the exhibition space into a soft, intimate counter-space within Antwerp Pride. For one day, BURO_ASAP becomes a hub of rest, given over to tenderness, vulnerability and queer kinship. Queerness as radical slowness, as radical softness.
Join us on Sunday, August 9 for a day built around small moments and quiet encounters. There will be a reading corner, a place to sit, room to linger, to just be. This is a soft pride, quiet and romantic. A space to connect, resisting the accelerated tempo of daily life.
We are happy to present artists whose work explores the intimacy of queerness, inviting the audience into moments of shared vulnerability and care through performance.

Non Binary Electronic
Workshop: Non binary electronic is a collaborative, playful and hands-on learning experience where we’ll collectively explore creative possibilities of electronics by experimenting, making mistakes, sharing, playing and challenging hegemonic notions of technology and gender. We are going to make a small synthesizer and electronic aberrations using some of the main CMOS 40XX integrated circuits. During the workshop we will learn the basic electronic components, reading schematics circuits and protobording to make our own handmade synths. The aim of the workshop is to learn embracing a more inclusive approach to electronics, queering the technology, making noise and short-circuit in the binary systems. No previous knowledge is required, just come and have fun!!

Walk-in tour Queer tour
KMSKA would like to be a brave space and work towards a more inclusive society. In this tour, you discover together with a guide and a pair of pink glasses the museum collection. How do we look at old art with a queer perspective? Which artists played with gender norms? Which paintings show us what was considered modest or immoral? How does the queer community appropriate certain representations of the past?
On this tour, be inspired to look at art in a contrarian way and be yourself! Because why be normal when you can be fabulous?

Vijf dagen parade, feesten, terrassen en straten vol volk. Heerlijk. En ergens tussen dag twee en dag drie begint je lichaam iets anders te vragen.
Gay Sauna Herenhuis is het hele Pride-weekend open. Sauna, stoombad, jacuzzi en rustige loungeruimtes, op wandelafstand van waar alles gebeurt. Buggytour | Speelvogels op reis
Ter gelegenheid van Antwerp Pride Week organiseert het Red Star Line Museum een extra buggytour waarbij de allerjongsten het museum ontdekken. De gids prikkelt hun nieuwsgierigheid met speelse activiteiten: luisteren naar zachte klanken, voelen aan bijzondere materialen en turen naar de boten op het water. Een eerste museumervaring op maat van mini’s.

Het hoofdfestivalterrein bevindt zich dit jaar aan de Cockerillkaai, in het zuidelijke deel van de stad langs de rivier. Dit wordt de officiële en centrale feestlocatie van Antwerp Pride voor het Love United Festival op zaterdag en het Closing Festival op zondag.

Love is Love Straatfeest

Jam Session: Wishing Well
The Wishing Well is an interactive sound installation that records voices, live-edits them, and loops them into an evolving collective soundscape. On August 8, Sasa opens it up to everyone. Come and offer your voice. No experience needed. No performance required. Just show up and make sound together. The Wishing Well has been quietly archiving queer voices since it first appeared, understanding the voice as a place of embodied memory, carrying echoes of queer lineages past. When we gather sonically, something else becomes possible: a form of intimacy that doesn’t rely on physical touch, and yet is full of it. This open jam is an invitation to experience that for yourself. Sasa will be present to welcome you into the installation and guide you into the soundscape. The more voices, the richer it gets.

Cutfest - free streetfest
CutFest is a vibrant open-air street festival held on Antwerp's Vlasmarkt, bringing together local creatives, music, fashion and urban culture. The event features live DJs, barber and tattoo showcases, streetwear brands, food and drinks, creating a relaxed atmosphere where locals and visitors can celebrate Love together!
Antwerp Pride Parade
Pride is protest en het hart van onze Antwerp Pride activiteiten is de Antwerp Pride Parade. Deelnemen aan Antwerp Pride betekent iets: We laten onze stem luid en duidelijk horen: de rechten van onze community en minderheidsgroepen in het algemeen staan meer en meer onder druk en dat laten we niet toe! Samen met onze vrijwilligers, middenveld groeperingen, organisaties, partners en allies lopen we samen door de stad!
De Parade start om 14:00 en duikt meteen de kaaien in ter hoogte van Brouwersvliet. De route gaat dan langs de schelde tot aan Sint-Jansvliet waar we een bocht… De route gaat dan langs de rivier en bij de Sint-Jansvliet waar we een bocht maken de Kloosterstraat in, langs het standbeeld van Peter de Grote - onder wiens bewind Rusland nog tolerant was tegenover homoseksualiteit - de Scheldestraat in en dan richting het terrein van het Love United Festival aan de Ledeganckkaai waar het feest kan losbarsten. Als je naar de parade komt kijken, is er overal langs de route een goed uitzicht, dus verspreid je langs de route om je favoriete paradewagens aan te moedigen! Voor de exacte route, check ons kaartje!
Let op: Net als vorig jaar wordt Antwerp Pride Parade live uitgezonden. Dit in samenwerking met Proximus en gratis te bekijken via oa. Proximus Showcase, ATV, VRT Max, VTM Go, Go Play, HLN live, Q-Music, GVA.be of een van de vele andere mediapartners. Onze camera's zullen opgesteld staan bij de Voetgangerstunnel/Sint-Jansvliet, waar de Parade de Kaaien verlaat en de Kloosterstraat in draait.
ALS JE NIET GEFILMD WILT WORDEN: maak jezelf onherkenbaar wanneer je de Voetgangerstunnel/ Sint-Jansvliet bereikt of verlaat de Parade even en sluit je later weer aan in de Kloosterstraat. Op ons kaartje, is de filmzone aangegeven. Let op, dit zijn alleen onze camera's. Elk jaar zijn er meerdere nieuwsploegen die de parade vanuit verschillende locaties filmen. Als je niet gefilmd wilt worden, laat het hen dan vriendelijk weten; ze zullen dit begrijpen.
