Last weekend it was announced that after 15 years Bart Abeel steps down as President of the board for Antwerp Pride.
He passes the torch to Geert van Praet with a newly appointed board of directors.
Bart Abeel: “Fifteen years is a good time to take this step. I look back with great pleasure, gratitude and pride on everything we have achieved in Antwerp since that little idea in 2007, when it was not as obvious as it is today to immerse the city in rainbow colours. I am particularly pleased that Antwerp Pride has grown into a widely supported and loving event of connection. A huge road has been covered that of course I didn't walk alone. My sincere thanks therefore go to everyone with whom I have been able to work on Antwerp Pride over the past fifteen years. Being president was a special privilege. I will still be involved behind the scenes with the organization of the festivals and the business network, but I know that I am leaving the organization in excellent hands. I wish Geert and the whole team every success. Love united.”
